Regulations
Regulations
Fort Caswell prohibits all of the following items in an effort to make our campus a safe and peaceful
place for all who visit: alcoholic beverages, narcotics, firearms, fireworks, skateboards, portable stereos,
metal detectors, pets, water guns, water balloons, and shaving cream fights.
Single, non-related males and females must have separate sleeping quarters. Insurance regulations
prohibit smoking in any building. Pets are not allowed on campus or in the guests’ quarters and no
boarding facilities are provided on campus. Guests disregarding this rule will be subject to cancellation
without refund.
Dress Guidelines
In keeping with our purpose, program planners and group leaders must establish modest dress
guidelines that are consistent with Christian principles. Guests are asked to wear cover-ups to and from
the beach and pool.
Safety Notices
The busy river is not a safe swimming area. The mile of secluded beach has a designated safe swimming
area with a boardwalk to cross the dunes. The beach has lifeguards only during the summer months. All
other months are “swim at your own risk.” You may request lifeguard service at the beach during the
registration process, prior to your arrival. Lifeguard service may be available during the late spring and
early fall.
The historic forts and batteries provide opportunities to view and connect with a part of US history, but
they were constructed over a century ago for military use and without modern safety considerations. As
such, there are sudden drops, uneven surfaces, and a number of other hazards that should be
considered before exploration by any person or group. During the day, guests are allowed to explore at
their own risk, however, Fort Caswell requires that anyone under the age of 18 be accompanied by a
chaperone at all times while exploring on or in the fortress or batteries. Fort Caswell also prohibits
access to the structures after sunset to anyone, regardless of age.

Caswell operates the PX where guests may purchase Christian literature, gifts, souvenirs, snacks,
